Engagement Ring Selection

Planning your wedding involves an almost endless list of preparations, choices, and responsibilities. Indeed, this can make the whole process somewhat exhausting, which is why it is easy to forget about certain details or considerations, or at least not to put as much care into them as you could. This can be fine for some of the smaller things – however, there are also certain aspects of your wedding that require the very utmost care and attention. For example, no matter how busy you get, you will need to put ample time into the process of selecting the right engagement ring, as this will not only serve as a symbol of the wedding, but will also be something that you will keep with you for your whole life.

Many people are surprised to learn that engagement rings actually follow trends, much like any other element of fashion or jewelry. Certain styles and ideas are more popular year in and year out, and considering this might be a good way to start when you think about what kind of ring you might like. It certainly helps to narrow down the selections if you focus mostly on what has been popular for engaged couples lately. So, here are a few words on styles that are currently selling well, which may help you as you start looking through your possibilities at 77diamonds.

• Halo Settings – A halo setting, in a ring, refers to a circular “seat” for the actual diamond or stone. This is as opposed to rings on which the stone simply stands alone, or has a differently shaped setting. Typically, halo setting are looked upon as somewhat vintage in nature, but they are also enjoying resurgence in popularity. On their own, regardless of whether or not they are considered vintage, halo setting rings are considered extremely elegant, and the style of their designs often accentuates the actual stone in a very effective way, without becoming gaudy.

• Color – Surprisingly (to many people), the use of colored stones as opposed to simple white diamonds is becoming more and more popular. Many people attribute this to pop culture. For example, Kate Middleton’s ring – now very famous and well known – had a blue sapphire instead of a diamond, and even the recent movie “The Five-Year Engagement” featured a ruby engagement ring. People these days seem a bit more willing to experiment with their rings, and this can allow you to achieve more of a personal touch than a traditional one, if that is closer to what suits you.
