Tips to Save Money when Planning a Wedding

Tips to Save Money when Planning a Wedding

Once you are engaged, it is time to begin preparing for the wild adventure of planning your wedding. There is a lot to prepare and this can become stressful depending on the date of your wedding. If you are working with a tight budget, it is still possible to have an amazing celebration. After some extensive research, it is now time to begin planning this special celebration. Although I am still planning my wedding, I would like to share a few tips that I have learned during my planning process so far.

If you are creative, I recommended designing the invitations yourself. There are benefits to creating your own invitations, which make the time spent worthwhile. I personally did not enjoy shopping for invitations because there were too many styles available. These styles consist of different themes, colors, and designs. When creating the invitations yourself, this process is simplified significantly. This allows you to have full control over what the invitations look like and you can create something that will be remembered well past your wedding day.

After deciding on a design for my invitations, I decided that it was time to begin shopping for shoes. My goal was to find an affordable pair of shoes that could be worn more than once. Most shoes that I found were a color that I was not happy with because they did not match any of the dresses in my wardrobe. This really concerned me because I do not like purchasing something that will not get much use.

I soon discovered dyeable shoes and these were perfect because you can easily change their color. This allows you to wear them many times. I am planning to wear these shoes for many special events after my wedding. There are many different shoes available to choose from, but these dyeable shoes seemed to fit my requirements best. I still have a lot of planning to do for my wedding, but overall, I am satisfied with what my fiancé and I have chosen so far.

You roll out your mat and sit down, crossing your legs. Class is beginning. You close your eyes and try to relax, shutting out the world around you, as the instructor informs you to only think, “I am breathing in. I am breathing out.” Sounds strange, doesn’t it? That’s exactly what I thought until I began to soothe out my struggles: stress from wedding planning and weight gain. My muscles were tense, my heart pounding, and my blood pressure rising. Not to mention a temper that was growing shorter with each passing frustration. I had to do something. I looked into the avenues of working out at a gym, but always felt belittled by those completely toned women running effortlessly on the treadmills for what seemed to be hours. What was I going to do? I needed to put the stress and frustrations of the wedding and my weight gain in check. I needed something. I found Yoga.

Through my internet searches, I stumbled across a small Yoga boutique on the South side of Indianapolis. I called the instructor with questions to learn more about Yoga and its multitude of assets to the mind and body. Most of us have heard of it, but do we all really understand it? I, for one, did not. I had only viewed it as strange contortions of the body that hurt to even think about. However, I finally worked up the nerve to show up for a beginner’s Hatha class and an hour later I was back to being my happy-go-lucky self. I was at ease and was able to let the stress of wedding planning brush past me.

Now, weeks later, I have noticed not only a change in my mental attitude toward life and wedding planning, but also a physical difference. Pounds are dropping off making that dream dress even more of a realistic achievement. I feel more refreshed in the morning and ready to jump head-first into the wedding planning again.

Yoga is more than just a stress reliever or weight loss program. It’s something to focus on that won’t hurt me if I practice properly. This workout of contortions can only help and strengthen me, clear my mind, and allow me to calm down instead of whipping up into a fury. It has allowed me to make it thus far in my wedding planning without a hitch.
