There are too many myths out there about wedding cakes and how to order them. I hope to dispel a few of them for you…..
Myth #1
Only order cake for half of your guests because “…no one eats wedding cake anyway”.
Why would you not order dessert for all of your guests? If you order dinner for 100, drinks for 100, chairs for 100, then you need to order cake for 100. Some folks won’t eat cake … some folks will eat 3 pieces. Some won’t eat their cake there, but will take a piece home for later (this is VERY true if you are having a cupcake wedding cake!). And those who think “no one eats wedding cake anyway” evidently have never tasted a Cater It Simple wedding cake!
Myth #2
Get a fake (Styrofoam) cake for display and serve sheet cakes to the guests.
The magazines, news shows and websites lead a bride to believe styrofoam cakes are practically free. Here’s the truth: —It takes real money to buy the styrofoam dummy, and many times, the cost of the styrofoam can exceed the cost of the cake ingredients. —It takes the same amount of icing to ice a fake cake as it does a real cake. —It takes the same amount of time to ice a fake cake as it does a real cake. —Fake cakes take up the same amount of space in the delivery van as a real cake does. —Fake cakes take the same amount of gas in that van to deliver it as a real cake does. Most people are surprised to find they will spend more for fake cake than they would if they just got all “real” cake.
